Business for the Stay at Home Father – Where to Start?
The first thing you need to think about is how much time you actually have to start a business. This will help you allot when choosing the right one for you.How to manage your day. Working on the business without compromising time with your children:1/ Get up an hour or so before your children wake up. With a nice strong coffee, you will find this will be the most productive part of your day. Make the most of this time.2/ Once the children get up, have a nice breakfast and do something fun with them. Preferably outside so they can get rid of some energy. A bike ride, a walk to the park, or a kick of the ball should do it.3/ At midday, have lunch and then put the children to sleep (If the children are still having sleeps). For multiple children, try to synchronize sleeps as much as possible. If they don’t sleep during the day anymore, organize a little quiet time. Have them sit down and watch some TV, read some books, or have them do some drawing. You should – with some luck, get some more time to yourself to concentrate on your business.4/ When the kids are up, or quiet time is finished, wait till your wife gets home or your children go to bed to do some more. Don’t go to bed too late, because as you know, being a full-time parent is full-time, there is no time for you to recover if you are running behind in sleep! As you can see, running a business for the stay at home father or any parent is doable with a little organization. Here are some more useful tips to help you get through though:1/ When cooking dinner, a slow cooker is really handy. This way, in the morning, you just need to throw in all the ingredients. Come tea time, it’s all done.2/ Remember that starting a business for the stay at home father, or any parent really, is not easy because you are virtually signing yourself up for 2 jobs. As long as you keep in mind that being a parent is your number one job and your second is the business, you can do this. It’s really easy to get carried away with trying to spend too much time on your business, but try to stay focused on why you are doing this in the first place. You are doing it so you can be home for them, not to ignore them.3/ When you do start making your first bit of money, hire a cleaner. This will save you lots of time that could be better spent working on your business. With a little organization, perseverance and determination, if you can just get through the first few months, you will really be glad you did it.
