Salvage Your Record Through Transcription System
Spoken language is literally difficult to transcribe or put into written words. That is just the main reason why a Transcription System was put into place. To make spoken words comprehensible and acceptable as formal records. In Transcription System it is very important not only to deliver and return transcribed notes done expertly but also done with accuracy. A dictated recording for example of a patient’s condition by a tired doctor or physician is indeed incomprehensible at first. Your job as a transcriptionist is to transcribe these words in a manner where it can be record- worthy. So how do you do that as a transcriptionist?Since you are expected to write down “everything” the client says this is only true in general transcription including legal however, your transcription becomes selective with medical transcription. In general transcription, you can even include laughter, expressions and slangs expressed in italics while in medical transcription you cannot do so because these are patients and medical records. As you proceed with your general transcription, you have the responsibility to correctly spell the words that are being dictated to you. You are also expected to completely write down abbreviations, and express appropriately (through symbols) hesitations and other expressions you hear. As much as possible, a transcriptionist must try to transcribe everything but if some words are really incomprehensible then it is expressed in a series of X’s.On the other hand, Medical transcription can prove to be a challenge. This is also the reason why you need to take on a course in medical transcription because it does require a set of skills to pull off. When transcribing a medical dictation by a doctor, nurse and physician you need to know which words to eliminate. The main idea that you need to dwell into when transcribing a medical record is how you can make that record as flawless as possible. You need to remove noises, expressions, slangs and other unnecessary words like grunts and sighs to make the transcribed notes formal. Always remember that you need to follow a certain type of format in medical transcription failure to do so can result to a forfeiture of payment, which of course you do not want to happen.
