Don’t Fall for an Envelope Stuffing Deal
When people are desperately seeking a way to earn extra income, they may come across all types of “opportunities” which could include stuffing envelopes, affiliate marketing, and network marketing (MLM or multi-level marketing which is a popular way to try and get other people to buy and sell products under you and to be paid on all the volume which exists in that downline of people). With personal finance a major issue of the day in today’s bad economy, people are looking for ways to earn extra money. One of the worst possible ways is falling for a dishonest envelope stuffing deal or scam.An often advertised method of earning money is to stuff envelopes with the promise that you will $1.00 for each envelope. It sounds easy and lucrative. These stuffing envelopes deals are usually outright scams or close to it. The old adage of “If something sounds too good to be true, it is” definitely applies. When you think about it, why would anyone pay you $1.00 to stuff their envelopes? They charge you to sign up for the privilege of doing so. Then you find that it doesn’t work as they claimed.A legitimate company can hire people to stuff their envelopes at minimum wage, or a large company can have a machine do the job efficiently and quickly for a penny. Why would they pay you to do the job at such a good price? It sounds like you could earn $50 an hour because stuffing envelopes is easy and quick. This is a very old scam, yet people are still falling for it. These companies prey on the unsuspecting who just want to earn some money, and this sounds like a simple and effective way to do so.If and when you receive a reply after you send the company your money, you will be told that you should run classified ads in newspapers or magazines (such as the one to which you had likely responded) or buy a mailing list. You would offer the envelope stuffing jobs for $1.00 per envelope. If and when you received a reply from an interested person, you were to stuff that information into an envelope and send it to the company. They would pay you $1.00 for every inquiry you provided to them.Sometimes companies may send you their flyers which you will indeed stuff and send out at your expense. When you receive a favorable reply, you will send that to the company for which they will pay you $1.00. It is virtually impossible to get ahead with this process or indeed unlikely to earn any money at all.Logical thinking will help people avoid falling for scams. With so many scams being perpetrated, a person needs to be careful to avoid losing money. Sometimes honest people try to start a company which does not turn out well, but there are too many dishonest people knowingly running dishonest scams to cheat people out of their money with false promises. There are some legitimate home based business opportunities available. Finding a good home based business which will pay off is not easy. It takes study and research, and sometimes trial and error.
