What Are You Thinking? – A Few Ideas on How to Create Your Own Stimulus
Budgets are tight and money is short, but finding some needed cash could be closer than you think. While looking at my used it equipment, I thought about rounding it all up and calling the junk man to come and get it.Although businesses are finding it tough to repair or purchase new equipment, your no longer wanted IT equipment can infuse some extra cash into your business. Instead of giving it away, sell it! Many small companies dread the idea of rounding up and cataloging equipment to sell on the internet. I made an extra $1000 dollars In selling used equipment online (some of it years old) and used the cash for supplies and upgrades.Your first though was probably that of eBay. In my opinion, that site is too saturated and way too competitive. Business owners who have some valuable equipment they would like to sell, should take a look at Amazon. Opening a merchant account and simply listing my equipment allowed me to generate some extra cash in my business, instead of giving it away. It seems that most of my sales are generated on the weekends.Driving traffic to your merchant account is easy here are some ideas:Email a link to your merchant account to customers or other business owners. If you have a Twitter account, make good use of it and send tweets of selected items. The more followers that you have, the more potential traffic you will drive to your merchant site.Word of mouth will always generate an interest, there is always someone looking for a great deal and having a business card or flyer will help tremendously.Use your blog or website to advertise your merchant account.Other vendors will charge you to list you items whether they sell or not. You will have to ship of course or you can send your items to Amazon and the will ship for you. Make sure that you read the rules and requirements ton have your merchants account.Getting paid is a snap, all earnings minus commissions are directly deposited into my business account. I get email alerts for every sale made, I ship within two days and the cash starts rolling in. My merchant account has no fees for listing. If I have items listed for 30 days and no sales, there are no fees. I recently sold a device made by Iomega, called a click drive. This was a small 40MB drive, that fits in the PCMCIA slot of older laptops. I originally paid more that $100 for it 12 years ago, it still worked, I sold it for $30.So, what are you waiting for? Create your own stimulus.
